The First FSY in Zimbabwe

The First FSY in Zimbabwe

It was all joy and excitement as young adults from Bulawayo and Gweru Stakes gathered for one week in December 2015 for the first 'For the Strength of Youth' (FSY) Conference in Zimbabwe held at Falcom College, Bulawayo.

The FSY Conference was held under the theme, “COME UNTO CHRIST” and aimed at helping the youths of the church draw near to the Saviour and have the desire to serve others.

COME UNTO CHRIST

Each day the Conference would open with a Church leader addressing the youth and giving them tips on how to draw closer to Jesus Christ, as well as follow His commandments. The youth would then divide into classes where they would study several gospel topics, with the help of an instructor. This would run for the whole day, with the evening set aside for fun activities, including singing and dancing.

FSY was a wonderful place for these youth to be. It was a place of learning and a place for them to receive answers for individual questions through the gift of the Holy Ghost. “As a counsellor, l saw the light in the faces of the youth as they searched the holy scriptures, studied and pondered them. Their faces were shining!” said Brodreck Tadaeo from Khumalo Branch, Bulawayo Stake.

Sherlyn Mbewe, from Gweru Ward commented, “I am very grateful for the FSY program because l witnessed how it changed so many young people's lives and my life also changed as l was also able to follow the lessons taught. I am also grateful for the opportunity l had to be part of such a great team which impacted so many lives.'

FSY Conferences bring youth together and help them strengthen their testimonies, as well as helping them get to know a wider circle of friends and have opportunities to develop leadership skills.
