A Temple For Kenya

'I shed tears of joy'

Service is central to developing love. I discovered this firsthand while serving as a fulltime missionary for The Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints . I was assigned to serve in the Nairobi, Kenya Mission in 2005.

I spent two years serving and helping these amazing people. During that time, I learnt about their culture, their language and their beautiful country. I laboured with them, I laughed with them, I cried with them. In short, I learnt to love them and I still do.

So, when President Monson announced that a temple would be built in Nairobi, to say I was ecstatic is an understatement. I shed tears of joy and happiness for this beautiful nation of incredible people. Their prayers, our prayers, have been answered. They have worked so hard and diligently to receive this miraculous blessing from the Lord and now they are about to harvest the fruits of their labours. They deserve all the blessings that the Lord has planned for them.

My heart is full. I love this gospel, I love Kenya, I love this Church.
