Charity

Charity

Charity, the perfect love of Christ that never faileth,

Which runs to rescue, saving lives, while the opposite assaileth.

A trait complete with bragging rights whose bearers never boast,

The very attribute of Christ that I desire the most.

She'll work hard for pennies and crumbs, only to give them away,

-She knows-

The things for which she bleeds and sweats aren't hers at the end of the day.

For any good deed, she asks no thanks,

To any reward, she gives no glance.

Soft in her heart and firm in her stance,

She gives, but never gives way,

To be in the spot light, for she knows it is not right, so she moves that goal from her sight.

To put smiles on faces and gladness in hearts, she fights with all of her might.

All the day long she labors and toils,

Planting her love into life and its soils,

Yet in all that she sows, she reaps not the spoils,

But gives them away with delight.

She suffereth long, with afflictions and scorn, and in kindness forgives all who hurt her.

And since she lives close, yea, abides with the Christ, she seeketh for those that desert her.

For pity and fear lest they do not return,

For, for every soul she doth have deep concern.

For the salvation of ALL her heart doth yearn,

So when it comes down to time, you're worth her's.

She's not eas'ly provoked, nor doth she think evil, when she is under attack.

She bears all the burdens that hate and contempt consistently pile on her back.

She endureth all things that offend her,

With or without a defender.

And no, she will never surrender;

In the end she knows God has her back.

She believeth all things and hopeth all things, and this powerful faith maintains her.

On the straight and narrow she strives to reside, that none may have reason to blame her.

She rejoices in truth, not what's wicked,

And chooses sweet fruit over thickets.

Diligent love's what she sticks with,

For she knows that it will sustain her.

Charity, the perfect love of Christ that never faileth,

Which runs to rescue, saving lives, while the opposite assaileth.

A trait complete with bragging rights, though whose bearers never boast,

The very attribute of Christ that I desire the most.
