HISTORY OF THE CHURCH IN BOTSWANA

1977: Latter-day Saints Blaine and Grace McClellan move to Botswana.

1983: First Congregation established in Gaborone.

1990: Karl and Marjorie Jenkins sent as missionaries to locate the Saints in Botswana. The first full-time missionaries in Botswana, Bruce and Patricia Midge, arrived in June 1990.

1992:  In March, the Gaborone congregation was divided to form the Gaborone West and Gaborone Broadhurst congregations.  An additional congregation was created at Lobatse in October. 

1997: First meetinghouse dedicated in Gaborone.

1999: First full-time missionary from Botswana, Yakale Million Moroka, serves a mission in the Cape Town Mission from March 1999 to March 2001.

2012: Gabarone Botswana Stake established.

2013: Botswana/Namibia Mission established.
